The Max Klau Band

The Max Klau Band delivers music that blends lyrical storytelling with groove-driven energy and thoughtful depth. Rooted in folk-rock and infused with soul, Americana, and jam-band sensibilities, the band creates an experience that is both intimate and expansive—songs that invite reflection while getting people on their feet. Led by Max Klau’s expressive songwriting and anchored by tight, dynamic musicianship, the Max Klau Band brings heart, intelligence, and a strong sense of connection to every performance.

MKB just released their second full-length album, Boston-New York drive.  The title track is inspired by Max's deep roots in New England, and is an soulful anthem for everyone who has ever driven the Mass Pike.  The album takes listeners on a journey through folk, rock, world music, and pop.

The band once took the stage at the historic Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory to perform at "Leadership in Concert", an exploration of the connection between music and leadership.  They released their first album, Wisdom, in 2007; one of the tunes on that album, "Dive into the Fray" was a runner-up for "Best Song" in the 2007 International Acoustic Music Awards.  

Today, the band includes original drummer Marcus Stewart and original violinist Katie Ng, along with guitarist Adam Dehner, bassist Grafton Pease, keyboardist Andrew Freedman, and Nile Ziembe on saxophone.
