My book, Race and Social Change: A Quest, A Study, A Call to Action was published in 2017 (and was based on research conducted much earlier, in 2002-2003). In the months after the murder of George Floyd in May, 2020 many academic institutions across the country compiled lists of recommended resources for individuals seeking to gain a deeper understanding of racial injustice and anti-racist activism. It was meaningful to see my book appear on a number of these lists alongside titles by some of the most influential thought leaders on these topics, including Michelle Alexander, Ibram X Kendi, Robin Diangelo, Debby Irving, and others.
